Beach Boys

Thanks to tropical storm Bertha, the surf was huge. Still, lifeguards were allowing people to swim. It was high tide and we kept having to move our stuff farther back, out of the waters way. Two fearless boys, eight and nine years old, dove into the scary-looking waves.  Their mother stood at the waters edge and watched them, a look of horror on her face.

See what other moms do…

Some blogger moms are seeing the USA in their chevrolet. You can follow their progress from the east coast, to the west:

I’ve done the road trip. From east coast to Chicago. From NJ to Atlanta. From Monterey, CA to Aspen, CO via Vegas. From NJ to Toronto, Canada. I haven’t done coast to coast yet. Someday.

Mutant Coneflower

This is the second year this has appeared among the purple coneflowers (aka echinacea) in my garden. Have read some accounts that it’s caused by disease. Looks like a mutation, though. Your thoughts welcomed.

Note: I’ve done absolutely NO Photoshopping on this. It’s a green coneflower, with stubby petals in a patch of purple normals.
